2024 Impact Report

Dear Friends

At Episcopal Impact Fund, we dream of a Bay Area where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. For nearly 50 years, we have stood alongside our neighbors experiencing poverty, offering not just aid, but hope, dignity, and a path forward. Today, that mission is more urgent than ever, and we remain steadfast in our commitment — especially through our focus on safe and secure housing, an essential first step in breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

But we don’t do this work alone. You — our donors, board members, partners, and dedicated staff — are the heartbeat of this mission. Your generosity and belief in our vision fuel real, meaningful progress and lasting change.

Because of you, families find stability, children have a place to dream, and our communities grow stronger. Thank you. Your support makes it possible for us to take bold steps, uplift more lives, and tackle the challenges ahead with confidence.

Beyond funding and partnerships, we’re committed to systemic change through advocacy — tackling the root causes of poverty and housing insecurity. We also bring people together through regional volunteer days, where supporters, community partners, and congregational grantees join in shared service, deepening the bonds that make our work so impactful.

On this pages, you’ll find stories of resilience, transformation, and hope — stories that exist because of you. Thank you for walking this journey with us. We are profoundly grateful for your partnership and look forward to all we will accomplish together in the year ahead.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Christina Alvarez

Our Mission & Vision

Episcopal Impact Fund channels our community’s time, talent, and treasure to support local organizations and programs dedicated to increasing access to dignified housing to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty in the Bay Area. We envision a Bay Area where all families and youth have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

“Every child deserves the security of a stable home. When families have a safe place to live, they can focus on what truly matters— growing, learning, and building a brighter future.” –Dr. Michelle Myles Chambers, President, Board of Directors

Our Programs

We have funded community-based poverty relief efforts for decades. Based on our experience, we focus on ensuring housing security for families as a cornerstone in breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty in the Bay Area. We bring together the generosity of our supporters and the expertise of hands-on nonprofit organizations to create meaningful change for our most vulnerable neighbors.

Grantmaking

Our targeted, strategic grantmaking is guided by extensive experience and knowledge in poverty relief and housing security. Every dollar we invest creates a tangible and lasting impact.

Advocacy

We live our convictions, championing policy changes that enhance access to secure, dignified housing. We strive to change the systems that perpetuate intergenerational poverty. Your voice and engagement amplify awareness and accelerate the path toward a more equitable and inclusive future.

Volunteering

We host volunteer service days to support our nonprofit partners. These hands-on opportunities meet the organizations’ need for help and directly impact our community. Your participation is a vital thread in the tapestry of our shared mission.

Faith-based Affordable Housing

At the core of our mission is the unwavering belief that stable housing is a fundamental human right. We collaborate with faith-based organizations to leverage their surplus or underutilized land to provide low-cost housing solutions to those in need.

Our Grantees

Episcopal Impact Fund is proud to support the life-changing work of nonprofits and congregations in every part of the Bay Area.

Housing Security Grants

Safe and affordable housing is the foundation of a thriving community. Through our Housing Security Grants, we invest in organizations that provide a range of housing solutions — from temporary shelters and rapid rehousing to permanent supportive housing with wraparound services — to diverse populations like low-income families, youth aging out of foster care, recent immigrants, and survivors of domestic violence. But our grantees offer more than just housing solutions. They offer hope, opportunity, and lasting change.

A Community That Heals and Uplifts

Alameda Point Collaborative Housing Security Grantee Spotlight

Alameda Point Collaborative provides connection, stability, and a strong sense of belonging for formerly homeless families. A home is a start, but a community creates lasting change. As Alameda County’s largest supportive housing community, Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) provides more than just housing. It builds a network of support where families and individuals can heal and move forward together. APC repurposed vacant military housing located on the former Alameda Naval Air Station into a thriving neighborhood where more than 500 formerly homeless residents — over half of them under age 25 — can regain stability. Residents have access to wraparound services, including case management, therapy, and employment programs, all designed to address the root causes of homelessness. For example, APC’s Farm2Market program provides handson job training while growing fresh, local produce onsite. And its after-school and summer programs give children a safe space to learn and socialize. Through these programs, APC creates a place where all residents can find stability, connection, and hope. Because a home is just the beginning.

Faith in Action. Providing nutritious meals and peace of mind for seniors.

Christ Episcopal Church, Sausalito Poverty Relief Grantee Spotlight

Providing nutritious meals and peace of mind for seniors. Many seniors in Sausalito struggle to access nutritious meals consistently. Some face mobility challenges that make grocery shopping and cooking difficult. Others have financial constraints. Weekly, volunteers from The Senior Meals Ministry at Christ Episcopal Church, Sausalito deliver hot, high-quality meals to older adults. Through partnerships with local restaurants and caterers, they provide healthy, well-balanced options that are thoughtfully prepared. And while food is the priority, these visits also provide something just as essential: human connection. Christ Episcopal Church, Sausalito exemplifies how faith communities can step up to care for aging neighbors — with nutrition, nurturance, and reassurance that they’re not forgotten.
