Friends in Christ, Join Our Community

Episcopal Impact Fund, previously known as Episcopal Charities, has served as the outreach arm of the Diocese of California for over 40 years. Founded in 1978, we are a grant making organization focused on addressing the root causes of poverty in the Bay Area. Last year, the Impact Fund provided more than 100 grants to organizations (including churches!) serving more than 100,000 people living in poverty.

If you care about poverty in the Bay Area, please join our community and turn your faith into action.

Talk to Episcopal Impact Fund

Episcopalians in the Bay Area are the heart of our community. If you have another idea of how you'd like to be in relationship with us – serve on our board, host a fundraiser, or just tell us how excited you are about what we’re doing – we’d like to hear from you. Talk to our Executive Director

Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is a protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life."

"Live your life as a blessing. Go into the world and touch somebody's life, give the way Jesus gives, do justice and love mercy, and walk humbly with God."

"Episcopal Impact Fund works to address the root causes of poverty on behalf of every Episcopalian in the Bay Area. I hope you will join me in getting connected, getting involved and supporting their beautiful work."

Episcopal Impact Fund makes grants to organizations focused on intergenerational poverty so that no child's zip code determines their future. We also support congregations so that their anti-poverty programs have the greatest impact.

Episcopal Impact Fund was made for times such as these.

During the pandemic, our mission to serve Bay Area people living in poverty never wavered. We rushed emergency grants to frontline responders, eliminated barriers to funding, and greatly increased our giving. We supported every church in its efforts to meet the basic needs of its community. And we heard the call to redouble our efforts to address systemic racism in the context of poverty. In 2021, we plan to continue our focus on granting.

Episcopal Impact Fund Sunday

Episcopal Impact Fund board member, the Rev. Lindy Bunch, offered a recorded sermon on March 14th, the 4th Sunday of Lent, to cultivate a stronger relationship with churches across the diocese and to let everyone know about our work, our grants to community-based nonprofits and our support to congregations’ anti-poverty work.
