New Prop 47 Initiative — Volunteer Lawyers Needed

We are seeking volunteer lawyers for a series of free workshops we are launching in collaboration with the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights (LCCR) to help people receive important relief under Proposition 47.

Prop 47 allows some low-level, nonviolent crimes can be reclassified from felonies to misdemeanors, lifting the burden and stigma of a felony conviction for millions of Californians. Our workshops will provide an opportunity for eligible individuals to obtain their criminal records at no cost and receive legal assistance from volunteer lawyers trained and supervised by LCCR. We will need volunteer lawyers on April 16 at 10 am at the Boeddeker Park Club House, 295 Eddy Street, San Francisco.

If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering, please contact Dana Isaac (disaac@lccr.com)to set up a one-hour training session. Once trained, you will be covered by LCCR’s legal malpractice insurance. If you are interested but not available on that date, please contact Kathleen Piraino (kpiraino@episcopalcharities.org) to be put on our mailing list.
