“The bridge loan from Episcopal Impact Fund is nothing short of transformational for The Gubbio Project. It allowed us to launch critical services right away—hiring staff, opening our doors wider, and ensuring that people living on the streets can access safety, care, and pathways to stability without delay.” — Lydia Bransten, Executive Director, The Gubbio Project

Celebrating Partnership: Episcopal Impact Fund & The Gubbio Project

At Episcopal Impact Fund, we believe in meeting urgent needs with creativity and compassion. That’s why we’re thrilled to share a new chapter in our long-standing partnership with The Gubbio Project, located at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco’s Mission District.

The Gubbio Project offers hospitality, a safe sleeping site, overdose prevention, and connections to housing, recovery, and health services for people facing homelessness and extreme poverty. Each day, about 125 guests find respite and life-saving care thanks to Gubbio’s dedicated team and partner agencies.

Recently, The Gubbio Project received a $4.2 million, two-year public contract to expand its vital drop-in services. But before reimbursements from the city could begin, Gubbio needed $200,000 in startup costs to hire staff and scale quickly.

That’s where Episcopal Impact Fund stepped in. To ensure this expansion could launch without delay, we provided a one-year, zero-interest bridge loan—a game-changing new funding tool designed to help nonprofits weather cash flow gaps without the burden of debt.

This innovative loan enables Gubbio to deliver uninterrupted, life-changing services at a critical moment. For us, it’s about more than funding—it’s about standing shoulder to shoulder with courageous partners who serve our most vulnerable neighbors with dignity and love.
