"The Ecstasy of Giving"

Thank you to everyone who joined Episcopal Impact Fund at the 2019 Night of Light gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco!

This year's event honored one of Episcopal Impact Fund's most faithful supporters, Ambassador James C. Hormel, and raised funds to further the Impact Fund's mission: addressing the root causes of intergenerational poverty throughout the Bay Area.

A record crowd of 330 people enjoyed an evening of live music, dinner, and dancing. Highlights of the evening included an interview with Ambassador Hormel and a surprise performance by the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus. Their moving performance opened the evening with heart and was a nod to Ambassador Hormel's deep involvement with LGBTQ+ issues.

The evening's program spotlighted three of our recent projects combating intergenerational poverty: Good Samaritan Family Resource Center, Oakland Elizabeth House and Homeless Prenatal Project.

Good Samaritan Family Resource Center

Good Samaritan Family Resource Center's mission is to help vulnerable families - including immigrant families - access needed services, develop self-sufficiency, and participate fully as members of the San Francisco community. Every day, Good Samaritan helps striving immigrants and diverse families obtain the skills, support, and resources they need to overcome the challenges of poverty and displacement.

Home Prenatal Program

Homeless Prenatal Program breaks the cycle of childhood poverty by seizing the motivational opportunity created by pregnancy and parenthood. Homeless Prenatal joins with families to help them recognize their strengths and trusts in their capacity for transformation.

Oakland Elizabeth House

Oakland Elizabeth House offers a home for women with children who have experienced poverty, homelessness, violence and addiction. Oakland Elizabeth House helps the women and children in their transition to independence by empowering them with the tools to rebuild their lives: housing, education, employment, and health and wellness resources.

As a long-time supporter of Episcopal Impact Fund, Ambassador Hormel shared, "Donating to Episcopal Impact Fund allows me to donate once and have the money spread around the Bay Area effectively to cover a wide range of organizations and services. As I learned from Brooke Astor, 'If you don't give from the heart then you're going to miss the ecstasy of giving.
